Prayer is an integral part of daily life at St. Joseph Catholic School. Each school day begins with a school-wide assembly where students and faculty gather in prayer as a community. Students also pray throughout the day in their classrooms and participate in daily religion classes at every grade level.
During the months of October and May, students pray a decade of the Rosary together each morning at assembly.
Each classroom selects a patron saint to learn about and celebrate throughout the school year. Teachers also choose a favorite Bible verse to share with their students and incorporate into classroom life.
These connections to Scripture and the traditions of our faith strengthen our Catholic identity while helping students discover meaningful ways to live out their faith each day.
Families are warmly invited to participate in our liturgical celebrations. The student body attends Mass at 8:30 a.m. every Wednesday, as well as on Holy Days of Obligation during the school year.
Students take an active role in our weekly Masses by serving as lectors, gift bearers, and altar servers. This participation helps our students grow in their understanding of the liturgy and experience the joy of serving their faith community.
During Lent, students participate in weekly Stations of the Cross. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is also offered periodically throughout the school year. In October and May, our school community honors Mary in a special way during morning assembly.
Sacramental preparation is incorporated into the religion curriculum at the grade levels in which the sacraments are celebrated:
First Reconciliation — 2nd Grade
First Eucharist — 3rd Grade
Confirmation — 8th Grade
Parents of students who have not yet had the opportunity to receive these sacraments and wish to do so are encouraged to speak with their child’s classroom teacher or contact the parish office for more information.
Students in Grades 3–8 participate in Eucharistic Adoration on Fridays, and parents and families are warmly welcome to join us.
Eucharistic Adoration is a time to adore and honor the real presence of Christ in the Blessed Sacrament. It invites us into a deeper relationship with Jesus through prayer, reflection, thanksgiving, repentance, and love.
During Adoration, students are encouraged to spend quiet time with the Lord—to share their prayers, concerns, joys, gratitude, hopes, and needs with Him. These moments of prayer help our students grow in faith and recognize the loving presence of Jesus in their lives.
Eucharistic Adoration is a beautiful expression of our Catholic faith and an opportunity to draw closer to Christ. We invite our students and families to embrace these moments of quiet prayer and to discover the peace and joy that come from simply being with the Lord.
