St. Joseph Catholic School in Tucson enforces strict immunization guidelines as outlined in the official Parent/Student Handbook, mandating full compliance with Arizona law (AAC Title 9, Chapter 6, Article 7 regarding Vaccine Preventable Diseases).
No child may attend classes unless a valid certificate of immunization is presented to the school.
Parents must provide official, updated immunization records (matching Arizona K-12 requirements) during the enrollment and registration process.
In accordance with the school's medical guidelines, a completed mandatory Health Services Registration Form must be kept on file.
Per standard Diocesan rules, failure to adhere to the school's specific medical and handbook regulations can result in disciplinary action or administrative exclusion from campus.
St. Joseph Catholic School is committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for students who require medication during the school day. Please follow the guidelines below for all medications administered at school.
A completed Parent’s Consent for Giving Medication form must accompany every medication.
Parents must complete a separate consent form for each medication for each child.
A medical order is also required. This may be:
A written order from the child’s medical provider, or
A prescription label.
The medical order may be delivered by a parent or faxed directly from the doctor’s office to the Health Office at 520-747-2024.
All medications must be brought to school in their original, labeled container with the student’s name clearly indicated.
Loose pills or medications in baggies, envelopes, or other containers will not be administered.
Students are not permitted to carry medications with them at school.
A responsible adult must deliver all medications to the Health Office.
Medications will be stored securely in a locked cabinet or refrigerator, as appropriate.
If there is a change in the dose or frequency of a daily medication administered at school, the Health Aide must be notified in writing.
A little preparation can make it easier to manage your child’s medication needs at school:
Dental work or braces: If your child has or will have braces or dental work, ask the dentist to provide a medical order for any pain medication that may be needed at school.
Colds or allergies: If your child has seasonal allergies or is prone to colds, ask the doctor to provide orders for medications your child may need during the school day.
Prescriptions: When filling a prescription, ask the pharmacist for a separate labeled container for school, if needed.
Medication samples: If your doctor provides a sample medication for use at school, including an inhaler, ask the doctor to provide a written medical order to accompany the medication.
Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and consistent medication process for all students.
