Dear Parents and Guardians 

Beginning Monday, August 24th,  Ms. Rodriguez and I will conduct state-mandated hearing screenings with students in Pre school, Kinder, 1st, 3rd, 5th, and 7th grades. We will also screen any student who is new to our school, regardless of grade level, plus any student we were unable to screen last fall. 

We both have been trained and certified to use an audiometer, which simply determines if a person can hear certain tones at a certain intensity. If your child cannot hear one of the tones, you will be notified within a few days. Please know that many temporary things can interfere with hearing—allergies, ear wax, etc. Therefore, in September  we  will rescreen any child who did not hear one or more tones next week. If a child cannot hear one or more tones at the second screening in September, you will receive  a referral letter.

Estimados padres y tutores:

A partir del lunes 24 de agosto, la Sra. Rodríguez y yo realizaremos pruebas de audición obligatorias por ley estatal a los alumnos de infantil, 1.º, 3.º, 5.º y 7.º grados. También realizaremos pruebas a cualquier alumno nuevo en nuestra escuela, independientemente del grado en el que esté matriculado, así como a cualquier alumno al que no pudimos realizarle la prueba el otoño pasado. 

Ambas hemos recibido entrenamiento  y estamos certificados para utilizar un audiómetro, que simplemente determina si una persona puede oír ciertos tonos a una intensidad determinada. Si su hijo no puede oír uno de los tonos, se le notificará en unos días. Tenga en cuenta que hay muchos factores temporales que pueden interferir en la audición, como las alergias, el cera en el oído, etc. Por lo tanto, en septiembre volveremos a examinar a cualquier niño que no haya oído uno o más tonos la semana que viene. Si un niño no puede oír uno o más tonos en el segundo examen de septiembre, recibirá una carta de referencia.
