The Assumption of the Virgin Mary (Artist: Peter Paul Rubens, 1626)
On August 15, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
The Assumption celebrates the truth that, at the end of her earthly life, Mary was taken body and soul into the glory of Heaven.
It is a beautiful celebration of Mary’s unique role in God’s plan of salvation and a reminder of the promise of eternal life that awaits those who faithfully follow Christ.
At St. Joseph Catholic School, we are blessed to celebrate Mary as the Mother of Jesus and a model of faithful discipleship.
The Solemnity of the Assumption gives our school community an opportunity to reflect on Mary's example and to ask for her intercession as we strive to grow closer to her Son.
As we celebrate this beautiful feast, may Mary’s faith inspire us to say yes to God, trust in His plan, and faithfully follow Christ each day.
